Hi, Canada! / Bonjour, Canada!

You asked and asked… and we’ve found a way to sell our iFiXiFi parts in Canada!

Here in the U.S., we offer our iFiXiFi parts through eBay and Amazon, but RVers will always find the best values here on ifixifi.co (because our overhead is lower and we pass the savings on to our customers).

We have tried to find a reasonable way to help our Canadian friends repair their Dometic RV refrigerator freezers, but every shipper we could think of (including United States Postal Service, UPS and Fedex) all wanted to charge an arm and a leg… just because it’s Canada. There were also problems related to customs, duties and taxes that a small company like ours just couldn’t handle.

But we found a way!

Amazon Remote Fulfillment will let us offer parts to Canadian RVers without having to send inventory to a warehouse in Canada. Instead, Amazon will use inventory already in its US fulfillment centers, and ship it across the border directly to you! And FBA will handle any returns according to their usual policies.

Amazon Prime members will get free shipping and will get items in 7 to 12 days.

iFiXiFi Parts Torture Test — Boiling Water!

Customer Lyle from Texas asked a really good question: Will our iFiXiFi replacement parts for Dometic RV Fridge Freezers take the heat… or will they bend and fail? Lyle, who owns a beautiful fiberglass Casita travel trailer appears to have had some disappointing experiences with the OEM parts and the fierce Texas sun!

We here at iFiXiFi aren’t in the habit of making fanciful claims. Our commitment is to make happy campers. So, Lyle, let’s test out how an iFiXiFi spring casing for Dometic 2002236004 / Dometic 2002236012 holds up to BOILING WATER!

Interstate 24x – The $200K Off-Road Airstream!

Dear Santa: You bring it… I’ll knit a stocking big enough!

Add this beauty to the things I’d like to see in my garage (and out of it)! Airstream has come out with an all-wheel drive RV designed to add comfort to long road trips and to off-road adventures. Take a look at the Airstream Interstate 24x!

What I love about the Interstate 24x:

First, there’s the off-road (and off-road) specs. The 24x is built on a 6-cylinder Mercedes Benz diesel chassis. For off-roading, that gives you the torque and range of a diesel, dual rear wheels, on-demand 4 wheel drive and an air-ride rear suspension to smooth out the bumps. You also get all the latest M-B safety features like lane and park assist, cruise control and other perks that make road trips enjoyable.

Then, there’s the off-grid capabilities. The Interstate 24x comes standard with two 100 Ah deep-cycle LiFePO4 batteries, a 2000 W inverter, and 300 W solar panel array.

Add the practical features. The wide rear door and split rear bench beds make it easy to take your gear (up to 16 feet for your kayak, mountainbikes or surfboards) in the center aisle. For your dirty gear, dirty dog or sandy feet there’s the exterior wash station. Bike got a flat? There’s the portable air compressor — standard equipment. Need to work or blog about your adventure on the road? Swivel the front cockpit seat and you have a workstation. There’s tons of storage and even a security safe!

And then there’s the comfort features. You can get as dirty, dusty and sweaty as you want, because the Interstate 24x has a full wet bathroom — also good for calls of nature on or off the road. The galley is also complete with a 2 burner propane cooktop, sink, and microwave. You can configure the rear beds as two twins or one big RV king, and rumor has it there’s an option to sleep more in a front bed setup. (Also, it looks like the ceiling racks might be able to handle an optional or aftermarket bunkbed system.

Blown Fuse? End the con-FUSE-ion!

CARAX glow fuse

“Roughin’ it” in an Airstream, fifth wheel, motorhome, travel trailer, or other RV actually gets a bit rough when a critical 12 V electrical system (like water pump, lights or Fantastic Vent) is out of order and you’re boondocking or dry camping miles away from the nearest store. And have you tried to find a blown fuse when the fuse panel is tucked away in tight spaces with little or no light?

That’s why we love these >>> CARAX Glow Fuses <<< !

When they blow, they glow! So instead of pulling out and squinting at each fuse, just look for the tiny beacon that says “it’s me!”. Keep ’em handy!

The Last Straw?

Memorial Day means it’s the start of summer. And, summer means camping at the beach! Shoreline breezes wafting through your windows… The sound of seabirds and surf… And then there’s the feel of sand beneath your feet. It’s great when you are taking a long walk on the beach, but when you feel sand beneath your feet inside your RV it’s an entirely different story. Once it makes its way through that door way, you will find it everywhere. How the heck does it get there? Well, there are those trips to the fridge for cold beverages, a quick dash for sunscreen, and dodging back and forth between the galley and the campfire. And in our family, it’s not just humans but four-footed friends. Sand patrol with a broom and dust and becomes a two- or three-times-a-day chore. We have tried a lot of outdoor carpets over the years, but many of them are heavy and don’t dry easily. Last year we discovered these outdoor carpets made out of recycled drinking straws. Amazing! Lightweight. Easy to roll or fold. Waterproof. Easy drying. And they are great at trapping sand outside and keeping it there! When you are ready to take down camp, the sand and other debris shakes off easily. And, did I mention they look great? Placed under our RV awning, our beautifully colored and patterned woven carpets makes it look like home.
